When the South Coast Roller Derby girls hit the track to skate, they really hit the track! Not only do we train hard we play hard. Oftentimes, this leads to some nasty injuries. Fortunately, we have an amazing crew of medical professionals that take care of us. Steve Hamburg and his crew from Health Care for Camps and Recreation are at every one of our home bouts supporting our skating mavens. When one of our skaters goes down, they race out, administer care and quickly remove her from the track so the bout can continue. With 28 skaters, 10 referees, and over 300 spectators, they really have to stay alert. Each and every skater they have splinted, iced, bandaged and carried is grateful for the most excellent care they have received from these knowledgeable men and women.

Our Santa Clarita Soccer Showdown Tournament was the biggest ever with 204 teams participating. Our Pot O'Gold Tournament is a three weekend event with over 180 teams participating. With age groups of U10 through U19 we had several concerns for the safety of spectators and players. The EMT's from HC4CR provided the best possible solution. We had fully trained and qualified EMT's onsite with all the necessary gear from the opening whistle to the final handshake. They were great to work with, they took time to find out how we operated and what we wanted. They became a temporary part of our tournament family. They gave that peace of mind that allowed us to focus on our event without any medical worries.
